It can be difficult to pay attention to our lives.
Many of us move through the world busy, distracted, anxious, disconnected from ourselves, or unsure how to notice the movements of God within us. Spiritual direction creates space to slow down and listen.
In spiritual direction, we pay attention together, to your questions, longings, relationships, fears, patterns, hopes, losses, desires, and daily life. A spiritual director is not there to tell you what to do, but to help you notice what is already happening beneath the surface.
Often the work of spiritual direction is less about finding immediate answers and more about learning how to listen with greater honesty, curiosity, and compassion.
Direction is shaped around you. Some people come with a long history of faith. Others are still figuring out what they believe. You do not need to identify as Christian or religious to participate. What matters most is a willingness to pause and pay attention.
Most people meet with a spiritual director once a month. Some come for a season. Others continue for years. Most sessions take place virtually. In-person meetings may be possible for those local to the New York City and northern New Jersey area.
Since 2018, I have accompanied individuals through nearly 1,000 hours of spiritual direction. If you are interested in learning more, I’d be glad to have a conversation.
